I was a novice cook when I began cooking regularly at home kitchen equipment company. My only kitchen tools were a stove and refrigerator, two pans, one skillet and a large wooden spoon. My kitchen supplies were very limited. This is so disappointing, I know. This is why I often ordered take-out pizzas, fast food, or restaurant delivery.
When I made the commitment to myself to use my kitchen more frequently, I knew I wasn’t going to be able to spend hundreds of money all at once to buy everything I needed. It is easy for us to get carried away when we see so many products that we don’t own. Don’t let this become a financial burden to you or your family. Planning was a key ally in creating a kitchen that promotes healthy living.
Once I chose a meal to prepare, I made a list of all the ingredients I needed and any equipment/tools that I didn’t have. It was a great way to get into the habit of cooking and it helped me build a kitchen full with all the necessary tools that I enjoy using. A couple months ago, I felt the need to make pulled pork but wanted to use a slow cooker. I didn’t have one, so I found one at my local Walmart for just 18 dollars. I was able prepare a tasty meal and I now have this important kitchen tool ready for me when I need it.
